Six Items For Removing Scratches From Your Bike at Home

Those who love their bike like a lover understand the pain of having a scratch on it. No matter how small or unnoticeable the scratch is, it just couldn’t be forgotten by the biker. In this post, we will tell you some of the methods by which you can easily remove scratches from your bike at home.
Nail Polish
You must have seen women applying nail polish on their nails. What you might not have seen is how to remove scratches from the bike using nail polish. You just need to find a nail polish which has a similar colour to that of your bike. After that, apply the nail polish at the scratchy area of your bike. You should apply multiple coats to make sure the scratch is not visible at all.
Toothpaste
Please don’t say that you don’t have toothpaste at your home. Most of the chemicals used in toothpaste can wipe off minor scratches on your bike. You should apply the toothpaste on the scratch area and then wipe it off using a paper towel and check if the scratch is gone or not. If not, then repeat the process until the scratch is removed.
Shoe Polish and Sandpaper
First of all, clean the scratched surface to remove dirt from it. Then choose a shoe polish which has the colour darker than the colour of your bike and apply it on the scratch to fill it. After that, rub the area near the scratch with sandpaper, to level it properly. Make sure that you don’t apply the sandpaper too much to cause more damage than repair.
Candle Wax
It is not a permanent solution to the scratch but you can use it if it is urgent to get your scratch fixed. Carefully wash off the scratch area and allow it to dry. After that, apply wax on the scratch and this will cover the scratch mark. But with time, the candle wax coating will fade and the scratch will reappear. Hence, you should use this method only to buy some time for applying permanent scratch removal methods.
Super Glue
It can’t remove the scratch completely, but it helps well in levelling the scratch area to the surrounding area. You can apply super glue on the scratch and then let it dry. After that, you can use paint or nail polish to make the colour the same as that of your bike.
Urethane Auto Paint
Fixing scratches on your bike can become very easy if you can find urethane auto paint. It is thick and hence it does the levelling and colouring at the same time. But it is quite hard to find urethane auto paint of the same colour as that of your bike. You can visit some auto parts shop to find the right colour of some good quality urethane auto paint.
No matter how careful you are, scratches somehow creep up on your bike. But by using the above-mentioned methods, you can very easily get rid of scratches and that too very cheaply.
